What exactly are they?
Crowns are used when a tooth has suffered a significant amount of damage. The damage can occur to the biting surface of the tooth, or it can be a big chip, fracture, or crack. Regardless of what damage you’re suffering with, a crown can help. Your tooth is first ground down to form what we call an abutment. Then, once the surface is ready, a crown is cemented into place. The crown looks like the top, or “crown,” of your real teeth. Best of all, it looks, feels, and functions like a reel tooth, too!
